The world's only immortal inhabitants!!

And no, before you ask, they’re not sparkly vampires.

They’re jellyfish!!

The turritopsis nutricula species of jellyfish may be the only animal in the world to have truly discovered the fountain of youth.

Since it is capable of cycling from a mature adult stage to an immature polyp stage and back again, there may be no natural limit to its life span. Scientists say the hydrozoan jellyfish is the only known animal that can repeatedly turn back the hands of time and revert to its polyp state (its first stage of life).

The key lies in a process called transdifferentiation, where one type of cell is transformed into another type of cell. Some animals can undergo limited transdifferentiation and regenerate organs, such as salamanders, which can regrow limbs. Turritopsi nutricula, on the other hand, can regenerate its entire body over and over again. Researchers are studying the jellyfish to discover how it is able to reverse its aging process.

“The world stands out on either side
No wider than the heart is wide;
Above the world is stretched the sky,
No higher than the soul is high.
The heart can push the sea and land
Farther away on either hand;
The soul can split the sky in two,
And let the face of God shine through.
But East and West will pinch the heart
That can not keep them pushed apart;
And he whose soul is flat—the sky
Will cave in on him by and by.”
—An excerpt from the poem “Renascence” by Edna St. Vincent Millay

Trying to get accepted into school again is really breaking my hypothetical balls.  Mostly because everyone is giving me the runaround and I have no idea what the hell I’m doing—or rather, what I’m supposed to be doing.  I know what thing I’m doing, just not if it’s the right thing to do.

It’s all fucking ridiculous!  All this red tape!  I was the one paying all that money just to sit on my ass and fail nearly every class I signed up for.  Why wouldn’t they be totally down with that?  How could they pass up such a golden opportunity?

Why won’t they just take me back???

Seriously.  I really need this all to work out in the end.  I don’t know what will happen if it doesn’t…..
